Ghent Transport & Storage is a family-owned company located in the Port of Ghent. We specialize in the handling and storage of both liquid bulk goods (such as liquid fertilizers and petroleum products including gasoline, (bio)diesel, gas oil, and kerosene) and dry bulk goods (fertilizers, grains, wood pellets, and rapeseed). With our professional team and state-of-the-art equipment, we ensure that all goods are handled quickly, safely, and efficiently.

As a Teamleader, you are responsible for the operational management of the GTS terminals. In this role, you take on operational responsibility on the quay and supervise several dockworkers.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • You supervise dockworkers (approximately 15 people) in accordance with the applicable regulations regarding dock labor.
  • You share responsibility for executing the maintenance programs for quay equipment and buildings, including both preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • You handle the setup and preparation of rolling equipment.
  • You pay close attention to and monitor the safety and sustainability of all operations.
  • You communicate and coordinate regularly and correctly with the Terminal Manager, planning colleagues, ship crews, and other team leaders to ensure continuity of operations.

Your profile:

  • You have experience or a solid understanding of electricity and/or mechanics.
  • You have experience in supervising people (experience with dockworkers is an asset).
  • You have a flexible personality and are open to a broad range of tasks.
  • You are not afraid of physical activities and manual work.
  • You are willing to work in a two-shift system, alternating between early and late shifts.
  • During busy periods or when unloading certain seagoing vessels, weekend work may also be required, in mutual agreement with your colleagues.
  • You are a hands-on person who takes initiative.
  • You have a strong focus on safety and quality.
  • You can work independently and handle stress well.
