Ghent Transport & Storage is a family-owned company located in the Port of Ghent. We specialize in the handling and storage of both liquid bulk goods (such as liquid fertilizers and petroleum products like gasoline, (bio)diesel, gas oil, and kerosene) and dry bulk goods (including fertilizers, wood pellets, and agri-bulk).
Are you a driven logistics talent with a passion for ship and train planning? Would you like to work in a dynamic environment where your skills and initiative are truly appreciated? Then we are looking for you!
Tasks and Responsibilities:
As a Planner, you are responsible for coordinating and optimizing the planning of terminal activities and our logistics operations. You ensure that the arrival and departure of vessels, trains, and trucks, the assignment of berths, and the operational deployment of the quay proceed smoothly and efficiently. In doing so, you take into account the functionality of the terminal, the size of the vessels, and the scheduled working hours. You work closely with customers, operational teams, and external partners to ensure optimal process execution.
- You are responsible for planning vessel and transport movements: preparing and maintaining arrival schedules, assigning vessels to the quay, and coordinating vessel schedules with the necessary stakeholders.
- You are capable of quickly and efficiently adjusting cargo plans when necessary. You ensure that everything is handled in a cost-effective and high-quality manner, and you can resolve any conflicts or bottlenecks effectively.
- You ensure smooth operational coordination regarding the planning and communicate proactively about any changes with all involved parties.
- You maintain planning data in the required systems, perform analyses of planning processes, and make recommendations for improvements.
- You ensure that the planning complies with all safety regulations, operational guidelines, and legal requirements.
- You collect and process data in a timely manner for weekly and monthly reporting to customs and excise authorities. Additionally, you monitor KPIs to analyze operational performance, throughput figures, and stock movements, thereby providing valuable insights.
Your Profile:
- You hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant field (logistics, maritime studies) or have equivalent experience.
- You already have several years of experience in a (vessel) planning role within the (petro)chemical industry or maritime sector.
- You are a proactive individual with a hands-on mentality.
- You are stress-resistant and able to remain flexible and solution-oriented when faced with unexpected situations.
- Quality, safety, and environmental considerations are of great importance to you.
- You possess strong organizational skills, have an eye for detail, and work with precision.
- MS Office holds no secrets for you – you are proficient in using its various programs.
- You have strong communication skills, both in Dutch and English.
- Unexpected planning issues may arise outside of regular working hours; you are flexible and willing to resolve them when necessary.
Our Offer:
- A challenging and responsible position within a dynamic company, characterized by a flat and family-like corporate culture where initiative, open communication, and team spirit are strongly encouraged.
- A permanent employee contract with a competitive salary package and attractive extra-legal benefits (hospitalization insurance for you and your family, group insurance, meal vouchers).
- You will work a daytime schedule from 9:00 AM to 5:06 PM. In addition to the 20 statutory vacation days, you will receive 12 additional ADV days and 2 extra sector-specific holidays. Time off can be taken freely in consultation with your colleagues.
- Opportunities for professional growth and training.
