Ghent Transport & Storage is a family-owned company located in the Port of Ghent. We specialize in the handling and storage of both liquid bulk goods (such as liquid fertilizers and petroleum products including gasoline, (bio)diesel, gas oil, and kerosene) and dry bulk goods (fertilizers, grains, wood pellets, and rapeseed). With our professional team and state-of-the-art equipment, we ensure that all goods are handled quickly, safely, and efficiently.

As a maintenance technician, you are responsible for the preventive maintenance, repairs, and cleaning of conveyors, buildings, and installations.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • You carry out inspections to ensure timely detection of potential issues.
  • You perform preventive maintenance on rolling equipment, conveyors, installations, and buildings.
  • You carry out repairs as needed and ensure that everything functions correctly again.
  • You manage the purchase of materials for both maintenance and daily terminal operations in collaboration with the Maintenance Supervisor, following the established organizational process.
  • You guide and supervise maintenance and repair work carried out by external parties to ensure quality and progress.
  • You maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • You keep maintenance records accurately (filling out checklists, managing parts and inventory, tracking completed tasks, etc.).
  • You will be deployed at two different terminals in the Port of Ghent.

Your profile:

  • You have a mechanical and/or electrical background, or equivalent experience.
  • You are flexible and open to a broad range of tasks.
  • You have a strong focus on safety and quality.
  • You can work independently, with logical thinking and a sense of responsibility.
  • You have a hands-on mentality, are proactive, and take initiative.
