Ghent Renewables is a rapidly growing site that, since 2022, has been responsible for the storage and refining of vegetable and animal waste oils and fats, allowing them to be further processed into biofuels. Our ambition? To play a key role in the value chain of second-generation biofuels and thus contribute to a more sustainable future.
As a Lab Technician, you are responsible for performing, monitoring, and reporting all laboratory activities that support our daily production.
The role combines hands-on analytical work with precise administration and the technical maintenance of measurement and analysis equipment.
You will work closely with the Lab Manager and the CTO.

Tasks & Responsibilities:
- You carry out the necessary laboratory analyses (GC, ICP, chemical lab techniques, etc.) and are responsible for the daily monitoring of the quality of various incoming and outgoing products from the production unit.
- You explore potential new laboratory applications and help develop new analytical methods, further broadening and professionalizing our services.
- You provide input and support R&D activities on site by performing ad-hoc analyses of various tests.
- You carefully prepare the required daily reports for the production and management teams and deliver quality reports for third parties.
- You manage the continuous flow of incoming and outgoing samples and maintain an analysis database.
- You are responsible for the calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- You always adhere to the company’s quality policy and quality standards.
- You work safely and in accordance with the applicable safety procedures.
- You are encouraged to propose operational and organizational improvements and support improvement projects by characterizing various streams within the production unit.
Your profile:
- You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field (chemistry, biochemistry, etc.) or possess equivalent experience.
- You already have experience in laboratory work or are eager and motivated to develop this quickly.
- You are able to recognize priorities and act on them effectively.
- You are hands-on, take initiative, and can work independently.
- You work accurately and have a problem-solving mindset.
- You speak Dutch and have a good command of English.
- You are willing to work occasionally on weekends if necessary.
