Vacancy: Junior Process Engineer

 Ghent Renewables Operations

Ghent Renewables is a new site that, since 2022, has been responsible for the storage and processing of vegetable and animal oils and fats. Part of its operations is conducted as a joint venture with Cargill.

We are in full growth and continue to invest in new technologies, people, and projects. We place a strong focus on safety, quality, and innovation. Our company culture is flat, open, and family-oriented: short communication lines, plenty of room for initiative, and a strong team spirit.

To strengthen our team, we are looking for a motivated Junior Process Engineer who wants to help us build sustainable solutions for the future.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • You support the planning of production, raw materials, and maintenance.
  • You actively contribute to improvement initiatives related to safety (HSE).
  • You analyze malfunctions and help develop quick and sustainable solutions.
  • You prepare work instructions, procedures, and safety documents, and keep them up to date.
  • You monitor preventive and corrective maintenance and coordinate this with technicians and contractors.
  • You perform process measurements, analyze data, and report on efficiency, yield, and consumption.
  • You provide support during start-up, shutdown, and modifications of installations.
  • You contribute to optimization projects in the areas of safety, quality, cost, and energy consumption.
  • You develop, assess, and implement process flow diagrams and heat and material balances.
  • You review and approve datasheets for process equipment.
  • You define specifications and operating parameters for process, piping, and instrumentation equipment.
  • You organize and calculate data for preparing P&IDs.
  • You perform hydraulic calculations for liquid and vapor circuits.

Your profile:

  • No experience required.
  • You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering.
  • You enjoy working in a team and communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • You are accurate, result-oriented, and take initiative when needed.
  • You speak and write fluent Dutch and English; French is an asset.

Our offer:

  • A challenging and responsible position within a dynamic company with a family-oriented and flat organizational culture, where initiative, dialogue, and team spirit are encouraged.
  • From the very start, we invest in your training: on-the-job learning, guidance from experienced colleagues, and the opportunity to gradually take on more responsibility. Over time, you’ll be prepared step by step to independently manage projects and take on a full role in process optimization and production improvement.
  • A permanent employment contract with a competitive salary package and attractive extra-legal benefits (hospitalization insurance for you and your family, group insurance, meal vouchers).
  • In addition to statutory vacation days, you’ll enjoy 12 additional leave days (ADV days), which can be taken freely in consultation with your colleagues.
