Your tasks

Position Objective and Extent of Authority

The maintenance technician is responsible for effectively managing the maintenance according to policies and procedures, ensuring high quality of work and maximumplant productivity.

Qualificationsand core competencies

  •  Educational background in engineering with mechanical, electrical and instrumentation skills
  •  5+years of process manufacturing and maintenance experience in the PetroChemical, Food, Chemical or Plastics industry sector
  •  Excellent diagnostic skills as well as mechanical and electrical fault finding skills
  •  Distinct hands- on approach
  •  Highlevel computer literacy
  • Ability to support a culture of innovation and initiative
  • Good understanding of English

Organizational Relationships

  • Reports to: Plant manager or operations supervisor (operations manager), depending on the organizational structure
  • Responsibility for: Maintenance staff, suppliers and operators during maintenance actions
  • Externalliaisons: Contractors, Suppliers, Customers

KeyResponsibilities

Productivity

  • Guarantees plant reliability through clearly defined maintenance programs covering all areas of the plant (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and services).
  • Worksout a clearly defined preventive maintenance plan
  • Diagnoses and rectifies faults in mechanical and electrical systems
  • Carries out maintenance work, responsible for the reduction of breakdown times
  • Ensures that maintenance is carried out in accordance with given specifications
  • Makes sure that overall maintenance is cost effective.
  • Keeps a database for all equipment up to date: Maintenance plan, reasons for faults, improvement, history…
  • Implements service contracts for plant, equipment, services including cleaning contracts
  • Responsible for a high level of cleanliness
  • Organizes spare parts: storage, procurement…
  • Has to react quickly in case of unforeseen breakdown of production (organization of spare parts, repair work…)

Qualityand Reporting

  • Adheres to quality policies and procedures
  • Ensures that maintenance programs comply with finished goods quality standards
  • Contributes to the continuous improvement targets and makes sure that they are implemented
  • Provides reports on plant maintenance and process/ productivity improvements to the plant manager/ operations supervisor

StaffManagement

  • Manages contractors (service technicians, artisans…)

Healthand Safety

  • Ensures that all maintenance systems comply with the safety management systems
  • Complies with the duty of care with respect to occupational health and safety policies as well as legislative requirements
  • Performs regular tests of the plant safety equipment

Environment

  • Makes sure that waste handling complies with relevant regulations

Operations Improvement

  • Analyses reasons for unplanned maintenance, deducts improvement measures for reducing maintenance costs and for boosting plant productivity
  • Responsible for identifying and implementing continuous improvement programs in maintenance work
  • Ensures that all maintenance operating procedures are up to date and relevant
